Campus 2 Community, through its action plan “SCHOOL BELL” has been profoundly involved in developing the infrastructure of government schools in the remote villages with special attention on the learning ambience. The Gandhian approach to basic education is a holistic one, where all aspects of the individual-intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual—are cultivated in a curriculum that integrates learning with hands on work that prepares young people for their life in the world, rather than containing them and separating them from the “real” world and surrounding community. Team School Bell from Campus2Community inspired by Gandhian views on Rural India and Education are profoundly involved in the development of government schools in remote rural areas.
The main aim of School Bell is to rejuvenate government schools located in remote rural areas across Karnataka by refurbishing the school premises and make learning more colorful to the students. Young and energetic volunteers residing in urban areas from various colleges and others participate enthusiastically to brighten the walls of wisdom. The volunteers also understand the poor conditions of government schools and also help them to experience the culture of rural villages that will delineate the gap between rural and urban areas.
Campus 2 Community is a volunteering campaign that brings together hundreds of motivated youth from numerous college campuses across Karnataka, who all strive to bring about a social change.
